NEW NATURAL PRODUCTS FOR 2016

I am so excited about bringing you new natural products for 2016.   As I stated once or twice,  I was a nail tech.   I have created Shawzae formaldehyde free nail lacquers,  and I am really excited about this,  because when I was a nail tech,  this was the furthest thing from my mind.  As a herbalist stylist,  I am always thinking about natural products.   These nail lacquers are my first, thanks to

DO THE BRAND OF THE HAIR MATTER, OR THE PRODUCT NAME?

I am going to say yes, absolutely,  because some brand of hair products are very different from each other,  including the way the hair was put together.   We all know that human hair v. human hair blend is very different, when it come to the quality of the hair.  We also know that each brand has their own human hair and human hair mix, including some synthetic hair.    We look for quality in the hair that we purchase rather it is human hair or human hair blend.   I love Zury, Outre, and Milky Way,  and warming up to Sendationnel.    Each of these brands have really good hair in my book,  and sometimes feeling of the hair from different brands,  I can't tell the different.   Some of the human hair blend looks and feel real,  and I especially look for that type of quality in hair.   I wear human hair and human hair blend,  I want to do the same with either hair,  so it dose matter.

TIPS FOR HEALTHY HAIR DURING THE HOLIDAYS

We all want that amazing look on the holidays,  when we meet up with family, and friends that we haven't seen in years.   We have aged,  and our hair has thinned out,  so we are left with the fear of looking worst than we are.    A lot of ladies with thin hair or alopecia still find ways to wear extensions,  it's amazing.   I see it a lot on YouTube,  however,  it's not something I would recommend to these ladies.   I believe that a custom wig would be a better fit for two reasons (1)  a wig can be removed easy to take care of the natural hair (2)  corn rows for extensions are not the best move for already thin hair.   When you braid/corn row someone hair for extensions,  you will be putting pressure to there already damage hair.   I feel bad for some of the ladies because you can actually see the pressure that is put on their hair preparing it for extensions.  When you wear a wig,  you will also wear braids/corn rows with less pressure.  I suggest whatever style you choose make sure you can sleep comfortably,  the holidays are set for fun and more fun,  so make sure your hair health is good.

Commerical Wigs v. Custom Wigs You Be The Judge

I love extensions, and wigs.  My mother was a true lover of wigs.   I believe that's probably why I love them as well.  I have worn the lower extensions and wig to the higher extensions and wigs.    I can tell you it is a big different,  because a lot of commercial wigs on the lower side looks fake,  and are usually rather thin in destiny.  Custom wigs are usually full and volumes,  now I am not saying that it's like that for all wigs. The quality of your wig starts with the hair and of course the wig cap make a big statement in custom wigs.  Most custom wig designers try to use a cap that fits small to large heads,  and sometimes that doesn't work.    I had some bad experiences with caps when I first started making wigs,  but as you move on,  things improve.   The key to getting a good wig is to select the quality of hair on the cap,  because if the hair is good,  you will be able to wear the wig for more than 4 weeks.   Spandex wig caps are used popular with ladies making wigs for themselves,  but I would rather make a wig for someone else on a net cap,  to ensue air to their natural hair.  You be the judge commercial or custom.

CARING FOR YOUR WIG

I am so excited about this post,  because it's a requested post. A lot of ladies want to learn about  how to care for wigs.   I want to first start out with the quality of care starts with the quality of the hair.  As you may or may not know,  they are making high quality premium synthetic hair,  that holds heat,  and equal to the premium human hair blend.  I am going to start here,  when caring for synthetic hair,  it's not a lot to do other than wash and condition it,  because it's not going to last long.  The regular synthetic hair is basically just trashed,  most ladies will just purchase more hair.   Synthetic premium heat resistance hair will last you a longer time frame than regular synthetic hair.  The maintenance on synthetic premium  heat resistance  hair is the same as human hair blend.   Wash your hair in lukewarm water,  use mild shampoo,  and you also wash your hair in an up and down motion.   The washing in an up and down motion help prevent tangles.   You will also want to apply a good conditioner,  rinse well,  pat dry with a towel, and let air dry.  When your hair is completely dry,  apply a little oil sheen to freshen the look while styling your hair.  Always follow the instruction you are given,  because when you buy a wig from a wig designers,  they are going to give you the manufactures instruction.  This information refers to human hair,  human hair blend,  and synthetic heat resistance hair.  These types of  hair will last you a long time with the proper care, and they can also take coloring as well as the heat.   A lot of ladies are wearing wigs now to give their natural hair a break,  and to help the natural hair to grow.   A lot of these custom wigs  don't look like wigs, so they are easy to wear with the invisible part.  So buy you a nice fresh wig for the holidays,  there will be a lot of sales out there starting  with us.  For more information on our wigs go to http://www.etsy.com/shop/shawzaeboutique   and to see our full wig collection go to http://mdesignersinc.wix.com/shawzaehairstudio    We are going to start a Red Tag Sale on November 15th.

HOW TO CARE FOR COLOR HAIR

As always there are a lot of information out there,  so I will keep it simple.  The first thing you want to do is realize that hair color is really an investment  in our appearance,  and we all want to look great.   One way to help keep your hair looking great is to wait a least  two or three days to wash your hair after coloring it,  to keep color alive longer.  The second thing is to use a color safe shampoo and conditioner ,  because using the wrong product will stripe your color and make your hair dull or fade your color.  I bet you didn't know that hot water  can fade your color,  so wash in lukewarm water.   Note:  Lukewarm water is also great for wigs and extensions.   You should always protect your hair from chlorine which can change and damage your hair on the outer layers of the strands. 
Color hair needs extra moisture,  so do a deep conditioner.  Here are a few natural oils and products
that can help you achieve the moisture in your hair, use avocado or avocado oil,  almond oil and vitamin E,  and macadamia oil.  You can also use natural hair serum that you can create or purchase.  I would suggest letting these oils soak into your hair for 10 minutes,  use a cap.  There is one other thing to mention that can damage your hair, the sunlight.  To protect your hair from the sun,  use products that have UVA or UVB filter to protect your hair.  These are easy breezy ways to keep your hair healthy and your color looking good.

HOW TO GROW YOUR EDGES

I know that you have heard a lot about growing your edges.  Some of the edge growing procedures work, and others not so much.  To grow your edges start with something simple such as a scalp massage.  Scalp massage  stimulates the skin and encourage  hair follicles to grow,  by helping to increase circulation, bringing more nutrient and oxygen to the surface  that will aid in hair growth.
Rosemary oil is a great oil for this purpose which is a great scalp and oil treatment.    Vitamin E  
is another  oil that will aid the hair to grow.   One of the best ways to care for natural hair is to use good healthy natural products on your hair.  I heard this a lot about sleeping on satin pillows or wearing the satin bonnet to bed to avoid having the natural oils absorbed out of your hair, this actually works,  however,  I don't do it.   If you don't sleep on a satin pillow or use the satin bonnet,  make sure you use healthy natural good products on your hair to keep it healthy,  by doing this on a regular bases will aid you in having healthy hair and edges.  

Note:  To avoid having your edges pulled out don't have your edges braided tight,  or use glue.  These are two ways that will definitely take away your edges.  When your edges is removed by one of these sources,  you may not get them back.  Edges like this below can be grown back with proper care

   

KEEPING NATURAL HAIR HEALTHY WHILE WEARING WIGS

The natural hair truly get abused while wearing  extensions, and sometimes wearing wigs.  Ladies,  we want to stop the abuse,  because wigs and weave are here to stay.  Hair is a trillion dollar business industry,  but nothing is as important as your natural hair.  The main thing to remember when wearing wigs,  remove them regularly,  so that you can wash and condition your natural hair on a regular bases.   For wearing extensions make sure your natural hair is treated and condition before applying the extensions,  because it will be a while before you remove the hair.  I believe that sew ins are the most healthiest way to wear extensions,   but it depends on what you believe.  The most important thing is not to damage your natural hair in the process.  While wearing hair extension the hair tends to dry out quickly, so keep your scalp moisturize and that is going to be a  journey while wearing extensions.   For ladies that wear wigs avoid  nylon caps because it absorbs moisture which could cause drying of the natural hair.   Make sure your cap is light and comfortable. Wearing wigs is also a good way for natural hair to grow.  By following this few steps will make wearing wigs and extensions healthier for natural hair.

IT'S WEDDING SEASON SO LETS GO

Weddings are in the air, and it's time to help the bride and groom.  Wedding season is a busy time of the year.  We love  sharing our excitement  with the bride and groom.  The year is no different, so we have came up with some fabulous gifts for them.   My heart is exploding  when I created these gifts, and the scent is awesome.  We created an awesome organic body oil for the bride,  and a sensual organic bar of soap,  it's like bathing in a bottle of perfume.  We have not forgotten the groom.  We have two organic soap bars that will intoxicate  the bride.  This is a great time to create  special  gifts for brides and grooms ,  and it's even more special when you make it,  so get crafting your special wedding gifts.     

 

ROSEMARY FOR YOUR HAIR

Rosemary is a great treatment for your hair, and it work even better when you use it as  a hot oil treatment.  Message the oil into the scalp,  giving your scalp a 5 minute message,  then wrap it in a warm towel.  Some people will do this at two separate times or have a different procedure all together .  You  can also mix rosemary into your shampoos, and other hair care products.  The rosemary rinse is one of my favorite, because it's left in the hair.  You can also add rosemary to your tea, especially green tea.  Green tea has so much antioxidant which fight free radicals.  Rosemary is  proven  to work to help stop hair loss, and it's inexpensive,  not to mention,  we can grow our own rosemary. 

      

LEARN HOW TO AID AN ITCHY SCALP

An itchy scalp  is a sure sign of dandruff, and one major complaint is the flakes.  An itchy scalp occurs when microorganism break down your natural scalp oils forming an irritant called foleic acid.   There are some herbal treatment  that is recommended that works,  one of my favorite is tea tree oil,  which can be added to your shampoo or other hair products.    Tea tree oil has natural antifungal,  anti inflammation and anti bacterial properties  that can treat itchy scalp.  Lemon juice can treat  an itchy scalp because o its antiseptic  properties.     Apple cider vinegar has powerful anti inflammation properties that kills the yeast and virus  that cause itchy scalp.   Aloe vera  contain moisturizing  properties which  will relieve dryness and itching.  Another one of my favorite is coconut oil, it creates  a barrier that help keep skin moisturized, and a great way to treat itchy scalp.  Baking soda is another way to treat itchy scalp, it helps relieve itching scalp by exfoliating the scalp and controlling   dandruff caused by an overactive fungal.  These are simple inexpensive  treatment that works  to keep hair and scalp healthy. 

    

WASHING THE NATURAL HAIR

This is a great topic for all women,  but especially for women of color.  My question is do you wash your hair once a week, every two weeks or a month?  We all know that different ethical backgrounds has a lot to do with hair texture,  so what do we do?  I wash my hair weekly and I believe that  using the right products to produce the natural oils in your scalp is really important.  I love to wear extensions and wigs,  so my scalp sweats to produce oils that will clog the pores to prevent growth,  so I wash weekly to get rid of the build up, and I use a small amount of oil to the scalp after a viragos washing to soothe the scalp so my hair will grow healthy.   If you have a scalp issue,  you don't want to do that,  but there other ways to care for your hair.   The care for natural hair depends on you,  but remember that a clean and healthy scalp will produce healthy hair.   When choosing a hair regimen always choose something that you can stick to,  because you can train your hair.   I believe hair needs more care when you wear extensions and wigs,  so let learn to love our natural hair.
