SHAWZAE ON PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

I am so excited to share this blog with you,  because products knowledge is important to all of us.  There are all kinds of product out there to use,  but how do we determine what will work for some clients and not for others.   Products are the key to success,  it takes the work out of your services so that you can obtain what you want,  without the labor.   There are a few ways that you can determine what products  works for you salon.  You may have heard the old saying,  you can't use the same perm on everyone head,  which is true.   Products are determine by the service you offer,  so if you have the same similar clients,  with the same hair texture, and similar hair issues,  then you probably would not have to purchase too many different products.    However, if you have a mixture of clients then you will have to purchase a lot of different products,  to meet your clients needs.   The way I purchase products is based on products that meets most natural hair textures.    A stylist should know how to care for all hair textures.   When purchasing products,  know what it will do to all textures,  so if you do get a new client,  you can feel comfortable knowing that you got products for that clients as well.   A few years back,  I had a client that walked in for hair services,  and I was taken back because I didn't feel like I had products that were right for her hair texture.   I consulted with the client for what she wanted,  evaluated her hair and texture,  then book her for an appointment for another time so I could get what I needed for her.   She became a regular client,  and that taught me how important product knowledge is for all hair texture.   You just need to know that the products,  or brands that you use can benefit all textures you will be servicing.

COFFEE TALK ON TAPE HAIR EXTENSIONS

Ladies you will be able to see coffee talk on my YouTube,  if you don't read it here,  see it on YouTube.   Tape ins are one of the services in our salon,  and I personally love them.   I wear them, and actually they are easy for me to take out.  Ladies, lets get started.

I have been trying to get the black ladies to wear tape extensions for a while,  because they offer no damage and just as easy to care for as a sew in.   Tape ins are trending now,  even among the black ladies,  so I felt this was a good time to start the conversation.

Tonya,  I don't think women, mainly black women feel that tape extensions are secured enough for them,   like the sew ins are.

Me,  That is actually correct,  for one thing black ladies put oils into the hair,  because a lot of times, we have dry hair,  and we need to keep some oils in hair to keep it moisturized.   I am told by a lot of my white clients that there hair is oily,  and that is why they  wash their more often is to keep the oils out of their hair.   However,  all ladies can enjoy tape extensions,   If the tape extensions are installed properly and the client follow instructions on the care of the extensions,  they will have no problem.

Nellie,  How can black ladies wear the tape extensions without loosing  them.

Me,  I am glad you asked that question.  All ladies have to prepare their hair for tape extensions or any extensions so that they look natural and flawless.   Once the hair is prepared,  then the tape extensions are installed.  Tape extensions has an adhesive that will connect to the hair,  and there are tools that can press the extensions onto the hair,  and you can also apply a little heat.   Once the extensions are properly installed,  the hair is connected to the tape so it won't come loose.  When you wash and shampoo your hair,  use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner so that you don't get too much oil into the hair.  Make sure when you use oil sheen and hair spray,  don't use a lot near the connectors which is the tape.  To oil your scalp,  just use your finger tip and put a little oil to the scalp only,  you will not loose the tape extensions.

Jen,  How long do they last?

Me,   You should have your tape extensions reinstalled every 6 to 8 weeks,  just like a sew in.  Human hair tape extensions will last for years with proper care, and they will be reusable for the life of the hair.  Human hair blend will be reusable for up to 6 months,  which means you will get at least 3 installs out of the hair, and synthetic a lot less time..

I hope that information has helped you,  and check out my shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/shawzaeboutique  or our website at www.shawzae.com for more information on hair
