What You Should Know About The Different Texture Of Hair

I have been in the hair business for about ten years now,  so I have been around a lot of hair.   I am a wig designer also known as a wigologist.   When you work with hair,  you get to know the hair textures,  and rather it's good or not.    Being a wig designer or a hair extension specialist is different from someone who is purchasing the wig or extensions.    The buyer will feel the softness of the hair and see the beauty of the hair,  which is how most buyers purchase their extensions or wigs.    There are things they don't consider when purchasing human hair,  human hair mix,  synthetic premium hair, and synthetic hair.   Here are the things you need to consider and know about the hair:

1  Human hair is high maintenance,  and you should care for it just as you do your own hair.  Buyers can establish human hair by burning a small piece,  it should turn into ashes.   Buyers should also consider the upkeep of human hair,  again is the same you would do with your own natural hair.
2   Human hair mix is a great alternative to purchasing human hair,  it is not as high maintenance as human hair.    Buyers should purchase this hair if you don't want to be responsible for a lot of upkeep on the hair.   This type of hair should last up to 6 months with proper care.   You can find this hair in all different texture just as the human hair.
3   Synthetic premium hair is a good choice if you want the least amount of upkeep on your hair,  although synthetic premium hair can last you a while with proper care.   This hair do hold heat well,  and of course you can shampoo and condition this hair.   The care of this hair will help you to wear this hair a little longer,  maybe for a couple of months.    This hair also come in various textures and color.
4   Synthetic hair is a good idea to have if you want even less upkeep,  and you like to change your style,  color and length.   You simply get rid of the hair and purchase other hair and go.   This hair has really no upkeep because it is changed so frequently.

These are the things you want to consider when purchasing wigs, and extensions.   You want to consider the maintenance of the hair.   When purchasing human hair,  you are investing in something that is going to last,  and the same go for human hair mix.   At Shawzae,  we create wigs from human hair and human hair mix.   We also tell you how to care for the hair,  and we also offer wig care for your hair.   Check out our other hair educational blogs on our website at http://www.shawzaewigs.com

SHAWZAE ON PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

I am so excited to share this blog with you,  because products knowledge is important to all of us.  There are all kinds of product out there to use,  but how do we determine what will work for some clients and not for others.   Products are the key to success,  it takes the work out of your services so that you can obtain what you want,  without the labor.   There are a few ways that you can determine what products  works for you salon.  You may have heard the old saying,  you can't use the same perm on everyone head,  which is true.   Products are determine by the service you offer,  so if you have the same similar clients,  with the same hair texture, and similar hair issues,  then you probably would not have to purchase too many different products.    However, if you have a mixture of clients then you will have to purchase a lot of different products,  to meet your clients needs.   The way I purchase products is based on products that meets most natural hair textures.    A stylist should know how to care for all hair textures.   When purchasing products,  know what it will do to all textures,  so if you do get a new client,  you can feel comfortable knowing that you got products for that clients as well.   A few years back,  I had a client that walked in for hair services,  and I was taken back because I didn't feel like I had products that were right for her hair texture.   I consulted with the client for what she wanted,  evaluated her hair and texture,  then book her for an appointment for another time so I could get what I needed for her.   She became a regular client,  and that taught me how important product knowledge is for all hair texture.   You just need to know that the products,  or brands that you use can benefit all textures you will be servicing.

COFFEE TALK ON TAPE HAIR EXTENSIONS

Ladies you will be able to see coffee talk on my YouTube,  if you don't read it here,  see it on YouTube.   Tape ins are one of the services in our salon,  and I personally love them.   I wear them, and actually they are easy for me to take out.  Ladies, lets get started.

I have been trying to get the black ladies to wear tape extensions for a while,  because they offer no damage and just as easy to care for as a sew in.   Tape ins are trending now,  even among the black ladies,  so I felt this was a good time to start the conversation.

Tonya,  I don't think women, mainly black women feel that tape extensions are secured enough for them,   like the sew ins are.

Me,  That is actually correct,  for one thing black ladies put oils into the hair,  because a lot of times, we have dry hair,  and we need to keep some oils in hair to keep it moisturized.   I am told by a lot of my white clients that there hair is oily,  and that is why they  wash their more often is to keep the oils out of their hair.   However,  all ladies can enjoy tape extensions,   If the tape extensions are installed properly and the client follow instructions on the care of the extensions,  they will have no problem.

Nellie,  How can black ladies wear the tape extensions without loosing  them.

Me,  I am glad you asked that question.  All ladies have to prepare their hair for tape extensions or any extensions so that they look natural and flawless.   Once the hair is prepared,  then the tape extensions are installed.  Tape extensions has an adhesive that will connect to the hair,  and there are tools that can press the extensions onto the hair,  and you can also apply a little heat.   Once the extensions are properly installed,  the hair is connected to the tape so it won't come loose.  When you wash and shampoo your hair,  use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner so that you don't get too much oil into the hair.  Make sure when you use oil sheen and hair spray,  don't use a lot near the connectors which is the tape.  To oil your scalp,  just use your finger tip and put a little oil to the scalp only,  you will not loose the tape extensions.

Jen,  How long do they last?

Me,   You should have your tape extensions reinstalled every 6 to 8 weeks,  just like a sew in.  Human hair tape extensions will last for years with proper care, and they will be reusable for the life of the hair.  Human hair blend will be reusable for up to 6 months,  which means you will get at least 3 installs out of the hair, and synthetic a lot less time..

I hope that information has helped you,  and check out my shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/shawzaeboutique  or our website at www.shawzae.com for more information on hair

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TEMPLE RAW INDIAN HAIR

Shawzae is excited to share with you information that will help you in caring for you raw Indian hair.  This hair is human,  which was cut from a donas head and sold.   This hair has not been chemical treated to avoid tangles and other issues that you normally have with human hair.   When purchasing this hair,  you should know that this hair is maintenance for you the buyer and seller.   The first thing you need to know is to use good products so that way it will take a lot of the work from you.   You should start with a good shampoo,  and conditioner.   The shampoo used with this hair need to be a detangler   or you will need to use a detangler lotion or spray.   The shampoo also  need to be sulfarate free.  You should also comb the hair through with a big tooth comb gently before shampooing the hair to prevent tangles, and shampoo the hair in a downward motion  When combing the hair,  also comb from end to root,  it help to prevent you from pulling the hair out of the lace,  or weft.   Again this is human hair,  so you don't want to damage it with heat or chemical.   Always keep heat low to medium to prevent damaging the hair.   Chemical should be used sparing on this hair to prevent damage.   I hope this will help you to care for your hair and that it last you for years,

SHAWZAE EVOLUTION IN WIG MAKING FULL LACE WIGS WITH RAW REMY INDIAN HUMAN HAIR

I love being in the beauty business, and making custom wigs are my hair haven.  I spent several months learning to ventilate,  so that i would have the skills to make lace wigs, frontal and more. I also had to do extensive research to learn about the human hair.  Through my research,  I learned how the hair was collected,  process, and the weight of the hair, including sourcing of the hair.  I was so amazed at this process,  and the people in India.   This process has also given me a whole understanding and outlook on the hair industry.  The knowledge that I have received  will allow me to create Shawzae Signature Full Lace Wigs.    I am so excited about this,  I am in the process of completing my first lace wig,  which is not raw virgin Indian hair at this time,  because I wanted to make sure that I could complete the task.   Check out my blog and YouTube for future information on this process.   I am waiting for the arrival of my raw Indian hair,  so happy about this journey.  If you are considering learning  to make custom wigs,  contact us at Shawzae Design School.  I will teach you what I have learned.   You will learn to create your own style and make custom wigs that people will love.

HOW TO MOVE FORWARD AFTER COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL

We are so excited when we enter into cosmetology school, and our license ensures that we are on our way to successfully meet our goals, however, this is not the case for many students.   I have met a lot of stylist that are working in different places and other business.  The reason is because a lot of stylist don't know how to do hair,  and the school doesn't teach you that.   The school teaches you the basic which include coloring, cutting,  and curling, and the academic you need to get your license.   In the real world,  you have to know more than the basic to get hired in the upper salons, or even to start your own business and other.    The stylist has to learn to do hair to succeed.  There are two options that a stylist can take to succeed (1 ) Find a salon that will allow you to be an intern so that   you can learn to do hair  (2 )You can take additional courses to learn how to do certain styles that are trending now.  As a stylist,  you may want to learn to braid hair,  or make custom wigs.  As a hair braider,  you may want to learn how to make custom wigs.   You should always put yourself in a position that you can meet today trends,  to meet the consumers demands.   As a license stylist there are so many advantages to succeed, but if you can't do hair then the options are lost.   We offer license and unlicensed student a chance to learn how to do hair.  You will learn to make custom wigs, do sew ins and braid hair at Shawzae  Design School for more information call 954-612-1982 or go to http://mdesignersinc.wixsite.com/shawzaeboutique

NATURAL HAIR CARE FOR 2017

Natural hair has always been my priority.  We have tremendous respect for the ladies that have gone natural over the past years.   I always say it doesn't matter what you wear wigs or extensions always take care of your natural hair.   Here are some tips on getting started on natural hair care,  it is nothing new,  however,  if you haven't been doing it,  this is a good time to start.

1   Always shampoo and keep your natural hair clean,  moisturize and trim,  this will help your hair growth.

2   Condition your hair in between shampooing so that your hair is getting the moisturizer it needs to grow.

3  Research the right products for your hair,  you may not believe it,  but products make a big different in hair care.  Some products take the labor out of hair care.

4   Pamper yourself and your hair by just taking a day for you and your hair. It will allow you to do extra things that you wouldn't normally do in your hair care maintenance.

Shawzae will be opening its hair braiding school soon.  We will be discussing hair care,  and signature treatments and more.  We will also be teaching you to braid hair safely.   There are two things that I see a lot of in hair braiders,  especially the ones that can braid,  I see that they braid the clients hair too tight,  and they don't stress the time frame for keeping braids in the hair.    We want to get away from those things and offer to the clients a high end hair braiding salons with lots of bells and whistle.  The most important of all is customer service and quality care.   You will learn all of this at Shawzae.

HOW TO CARE FOR BRAIDED HAIR WITH EXTENSIONS

The first thing to remember is not to leave braids in for more than 4-6 weeks,  secondly educate your clients that tighter is not better.  Braiding hair too tight and keeping braids in too long will damage your natural hair.  Now, let's talk about how to care for braids with extensions.   Most people do not want to wash their hair while they have braids because they believe that it will fizz up,  however, washing and conditioning your hair two weeks after you get your braids will help eliminate dryness and  help to keep your hair follicles strong.  If you are concern with hair frizzing,  wear a stocking cap or wig cap for thirty minutes to lay down the hair,  make sure the cap that you use is breathable.
Applying a small amount to the scalp daily will also help to keep hair follicles from looking dry, dull, and lifeless and will keep your hair from thinning when the braids are removed.  There are a lot of strong ladies coming out allowing you to see what happens when you don't take care of your hair. Letting someone braid your hair too tight because you want it to last for two months is definitely a no,  or just leaving your hair in braids for 2 or 3 months to save money is definitely a no.  Braids are beautiful so let keep them looking beautiful and healthy by washing, and conditioning our hair.  You may not know this but products are another key factor in taking care of your hair,  so put good in to get good out.

Note:  Our hair braiding school will start in a couple of months,  and we are here to teach you how to braid hair to prevent hair loss.   There is a technique to safe braiding.  If you have any question leave me a comment or email me at emurray310@gmail.com    Hair braiding is in our future and has been in our past for generations,  so it's not going anywhere,  so building safe braiding habits and natural hair care is a most.

Look at this picture,  the hair is braided too tight,
                                              so lets not do this.

Natural Hair Care and Custom Wigs For The Fall Season

Fall and winter can be brutal to our natural hair,  creating dryness,  brittleness and thinning which will cause hair loss.   We also have some trending custom style wigs for the fall.   These custom wigs can help relieve tension on the natural hair.  I read a few days ago wigs are becoming the new extensions.  A lot of ladies are wearing wig now to relieve stress on their natural hair.  Here are some tips to caring for the natural hair,   because our skin gets so dry in the fall and winter,  the main thing to do with natural hair is to keep it clean and moist.   Jojoba oil is a powerful  remedy that has been used for hundreds of years, it has a powerful effect on hair growth.   Saw Palmetto is known to block  formation of dihydrotesterone which kills hormone that kill hair follicles.  Rosemary  with almond  or coconut oil is a great health provider for natural hair and scalp.  Eumi oil is another oil that is highly recommended  for the natural hair and scalp.   Remember the best way to take care of natural hair is to keep it clean and scalp moisturize.  For constant styles and color changes,  you may want to wear a custom wig to relieve the stress off the natural hair.

SHAWZAE ON CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RESOURCING YOUR HAIR

Customer service is one of the most important aspect of any business.   In business,  you will have problems occurring at time,  but it's what you do after the problem has occurred.  I was told once that it's not what happen,  but how you handle it afterwards  that matter to the customers.
Lets's talk about resourcing your hair,  I am a wig designer so I have to find the best quality hair that I can afford for my customers.   One of the things,  I discovered in this process is that some of the business owners do diminish the quality of hair for other business owners.   I make it my business to read review on other businesses to see what their customers are saying about their business and the quality of hair that they are getting from them.  I realized that no matter how much money you pay for custom wigs,  or regardless of how much people tend to market the products as the best,  sometime they fall short.   As a customer,  I am looking for quality hair for me, and my customers.  I want to pass onto them quality hair,  and affordability.   I personally will never pay over $250 for any type of hair no matter what the company say.   I will never charge my customer any more money than I would pay myself,  and I am going to tell you why.   One of the reasons are if you don't care for your hair it's going to go bad no matter how much money you paid.  Second reason is in the nape of your neck,  you going to sweat because you have the hair coming down your back,  which mean it's going to tangle.   Human hair gets tangle,  so if you are purchasing human hair,  then you should know that it's going to get tangle unless it is processed so that it doesn't which  mean that they have put something on the hair.   You should think of human hair as your own natural hair,  which get tangle and matted if not care for.   Third  reason is that company mislead you about human hair,  and the reasons that some hair don't work out for the customers is because the human hair it self may not be good quality hair,  even though  it's human hair.  A  business owner should know that these problems are going to occur,  and when it dose give the best customer service that is possible,  and don't overcharge for your products,  when you know that the products is not as you say,  or put down other business owners.   We should also remember that even when you do this there are some people that you just can't get through or help.

THE BEST MOISTURIZERS FOR NATURAL HAIR

Ladies, regardless of the hair texture all hair need moisturizers unless you have an oily scalp.   A lot of women have dry hair,  including some men,  and could benefit from a great hair moisturizer.  I heard a lot of women,  even men complain about dull and dry hair.  If you have 4C hair,  it's especially  true because if you have kinker hair ( tightly coiled )   it is drier.  There are other ethnic  groups that have kinky hair other than Black Americans,  so this is why I say all hair texture.  When your hair is kinky or has kinks it is harder for your scalp natural oil to travel  down to the strands.   There are people with straight hair that has a dry scalp.  The hair patterns can help explain  why your hair has a very low shine.  When the hair is properly moisturize the hair is healthy.   There are  several great products on the market,  one thing you want to remember is the oils which are good sealant.  (1) Shea products,   (2) Olive oil products (3) Coconut oils products and (4)  Macadamia oil products because these are all natural oils and keep skin and hair moisturize.  I created a serum for the hair with coconut and olive oil mixed with Rosemary.   Rosemary is great for the hair in keeping it healthy,  so it makes for a great product.  You can mix and make your own natural moisturizer for your hair as I did.  Learn to love your natural hair.

NEW FRENCH CLAY BEAUTY BAR

French clay is one of  nature's strongest antiseptic,  and it has strong inflammatory  properties.
The clay stop the flow of blood and speed up the process of cellular  knitting  bringing tissues together for younger and healthy skin.  The clay also drawls out impurities and toxins of your system with deep cleansing.  The clay is very absorptive and has a long murals of heath benefits.  The clay can be applied externally,  and studies have shown it can be taken internally safe.   It is extremely safe,  it's from mother earth,  but use incorrectly could case a negative reaction.

Note:   When using French clay for the first time you will notice the affected area become red or worse than it was,  before it gets better.   From my own experience this is true,  I use the French clay as a mask for years,  now I have made it into a bar of soap which you will find in Shawzae Boutique in cosmetic at http://www.etsy.com/shop/shawzaeboutique.    The process for the clay is normal.

The clay stimulate blood circulation which brings blood closer to the surface of the skin,  this main the clay is working to eliminate what it needs to flush from the body,  indicating that the process of healing has began.

Note:  No side effect but do not internally use if :

1   You suffer from high blood pressure,  kidney failure or intestinal issues,  or you have chronic constipation.  As stated early,  studies have shown that you can use this clay internally,  however,
we are promoting a French clay bar of soap for external use.

If you love clinque soap,  you are going to love this soap for deep cleansing and  a younger look.

THE BENEFIT OF PROPER HEAT FOR NATURAL HAIR

Ladies,  we know that heat can damage our hair,  but did you know with the proper heat it can be beneficial.  I will say 250 to 350,  but it really depend on your hair texture and if it's has chemical in the hair.  The heat from a hooded dryer or steamer can benefit deep conditioner.   A plastic cap and hot towel can also benefit a deep conditioner.   The natural hair can benefit from heat before braids and extensions.  Heat help prevent matting and a lot of tangles.  When using the proper heat in your hair,  you will get to do more styles,  and they last longer.  Lean to love your natural hair and take care of it.   There all kinds of organic products that are great for the natural hair.
